May was a wild thing, especially emotionally. I realised I want to share more behind the scenes because that’s the interesting part, right?
Less digital
I am focusing on working, not 100% digital, for commissioned projects. I am tired of searching through brushes and textures and then deciding which one to use. It takes up so much time! Instead, I’m going back to my roots and to the part I love: the analog. I recently listened to one of Tom Froese’s podcast episodes, which resonated very much. So, for my next picture book project, I did some tests with different tools.
The joy of play
The other day, I collected some sticks and used them to draw with fluid watercolors from Ecoline and pébéo Colorex. It’s so much fun. After the watercolor dried, I added some details with colored pencils and Neocolor I, the non-water-soluble ones.
Here's a collection of pictures from my exciting project for the Friedenstier book. I am so happy this became real. There was even an article in a local newspaper – it's in German.
Due to the ongoing discussion about AI I came a cross this brilliantly written article by Simon K Jones, which made me feel better.
Stay curious.
Yours, Andrea
P.S. A little snippet from my daily sketches
